WEST HARTFORD – A little bit of Uganda will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish on Jan. 16 as parishioners learn about a mission trip there that four people from the parish made. A Ugandan Mass, dinner and slide show about the mission will begin at 5 p.m. at the parish. It is open to the public.

Deacon Kevin Monahan, his wife, Lori and Lisa Mulvey visited war-torn Uganda last fall with Father Richard Okiria, a native Ugandan who is the parochial vicar at St. Thomas the Apostle. Father Okiria is the founder of the nonprofit charity Bridges to Hope (www.BridgestoHope.com), the purpose of which is to deliver much-needed help to village communities where such basics as lean water are a luxury.

Information about their mission trip and Bridges to Hope is available from Lori Monahan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
