Thursday, March 04, 2010by The Catholic Transcript

HARTFORD – The Clare Gallery will present “Remembering Archbishop Oscar Romero,” an exhibit by Franciscan Brother Octavio Duran, a photojournalist, from March 4 to May 10. The exhibit tells the story of a modern prophet and martyr. Thirty years since his assassination in 1980, Archbishop Romero continues to serve as one of the great Christian witnesses of our time.

The gallery also will screen the movie “Romero” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 4. Additionally, a Twilight Retreat will be held from 5-9 p.m. March 18 with Brother Octavio, who witnessed the Archbishop’s ministry in El Salvador. Brother Octavio’s newly published book containing photographs of Archbishop Romero will be sold.

The gallery is located at the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry, part of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish, at 285 Church St. Its hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays; and 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays. Admission is free.
