HAMDEN – Sacred Heart Academy, an independent Catholic college preparatory school for young women in grades nine through 12, will open its doors to prospective students and their families from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 17. The open house is designed to give guests a feel for the spirit and focus of the school, which is located at 265 Benham St.

Students will guide tours, and administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and alumnae will be on hand to answer questions. Activities, presentations and exhibits representing all facets of the academy will be offered. Seventh- and eighth-graders who are considering admission and their parents are being encouraged to attend. Sacred Heart Academy currently has an enrollment of 500 students who hail from New Haven, Fairfield, Middlesex, Hartford and New London counties.
