Querido Señor:

Hace 30 años, tomados de la mano,tú bendijiste el amor que Irma y yo nos tenemos. El pasado marzo19 a las 6:42 de la mañana, también tomados de la mano, Irma  se sumergió en tu luz eterna, origen y destino final de nuestro  amor.

Desdeque comenzó su nueva vida bajo tu regazo, te agradecemos por el don de la fe que nos permite mirar esta realidad por encima de las lagrimas y el natural dolor de su partida. Esta celebración que hoy efectuamos sus hijos, familiares, amigos, compañeros de trabajo y conocidos, junto conmigo que tuve el privilegio de ser su esposo, tiene un sabor agridulce.

Adoloridos lloramos como cuando tú lo hiciste frente a la tumba de Lázaro, porque también  la amamos mucho. Con profunda esperanza y certeza sabemos que su vida no termina, se transforma.

Al acompañarla hasta donde la vida toca el borde del misterio de la muerte, sentimos la majestad de tu presencia amorosa y humildemente te alabamos y agradecemos.

Gracias porque cada vez que la veía, su presencia me inundaba de alegría yen sus ojos moros, podía percibir la alegría de su corazón y el amor que su mirada profunda irradiaba.Por ella,túnos has inundado de amor, a mis hijos y a mí.

Gracias también porque, como pareja Irma supo respetar nuestras individualidades y se entregosin reservas. Su generoso espírituno daba espacio ni para el rencor ni la amargura,  ensenándonos como familia a vivir el presente sin resquemores del pasado.

Señor: tú has bendecido nuestro amor con 3 maravillosos hijos: Rafael Alejandro, Ana María y Diana Carolina,de quienes Irmadecía"ellos son mis ángeles". Gracias porque su ternura de madre se desbordó con cada uno de ellos. Sus habilidades para hacerlos sentir felices eran incontables.A veces hacia hablar a Silvestre, Mickey Mouse o alguna conejilla de pascua hasta hacernos llorar de la risa.Quienes la oían podían conocer a la gente de sus historias por la manera como ella  hablaba y accionaba.

Gracias así mismo porque dedicó toda su vida para que sus hijos florecieran. Su prioridad fue ser madre, a veces trabajo tiempo parcial para estar dedicada totalmente a ellos. Ingeniosamente evito que las dificultades de cualquier tipo nos distrajeran de valorar lo que realmente es importante en la vida.

En este último año, compartió contigo la cruz de su dolor, la vimos sufrir con dignidad, muy consciente de las limitaciones de la ciencia médica y al mismo tiempo participando activamente en diversas investigaciones, que ella sabía, ayudarían a quienes vendrían después de ella.

Irma y nosotros queremos  agradecerte Señor por todos los profesionales que la trataron, por Fanny que dono sus células, por quienes donaron sangre,por elHope Lodge, por nuestros hijos, familiares y amigos, sus compañeras de colegio y de trabajo y nuestra comunidad de fe y grupos de oración. Sus llamadas, tarjetas, mensajes, textos y regalitos iluminaron con esperanza sus largas jornadas de dolor.

La oración de muchos no ha sido en vano: Tú has proveído fortaleza y sanación espiritual y emocional. Irma pudo con paz hablar con su familia de la realidad de la muerte que se avecinaba. Ante tu presencia hicimos un pacto de vivir de acuerdo a tu mensaje para podernos encontrar luego, siendo parte de la gran familia de los hijos de Dios.

Señor,  queremos agradecerte porque ella pudo prepararse cristianamente para encontrarse contigo. Se reconcilio contigo y los hermanos a través de la Iglesia y recibió el sacramento de los enfermos varias veces. Durante sus muchas estadías en el hospital recibía casi a diario el pan de vida. El19 de marzo, día de su muerte, el sacerdote que a media noche la acompañabadecía lo afortunada que era de estar rodeada de toda su familia, esperando juntos en oración al Señor que llegaba para tomarla de la mano y llevarla consigo. En ese día la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de San José,patrono de la buena muerte, porque al morir estuvo acompañado deJesús y deMaría.

Querido Dios: gracias por la vida de Irma, su responsabilidad,su amor y dedicación  a sus pacientes, su sentido del humor y su alegría. Rodeados de familiares y amigos te agradecemos que la hayas llamado a tu lado dondetú has secado todas sus lágrimas, y ya no habrá muerte, ni llanto, ni lamento, ni dolor. Allíestán todos nuestros seres queridos  que nos precedieron y estás tú,lleno de gloria,saciando a plenitud nuestros deseos de eternidad.
