Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur celebrated their congregational feast day on Feb. 2 with a special Mass at East Catholic High School in Manchester. Six of the 10 sisters who attended the Mass have worked at East Catholic at some point in their careers. Archbishop Henry J. Mansell prepares to celebrate a Mass Nov. 19 at the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph in honor or 18 women religious who are celebrating a total of 940 years in religious life. The honorees in attendance, who led the processional, were: 70 years: Sisters of St. Joseph Mary Fitzgerald and Rita McNally; 65 years: Religious Teacher Filippini Anna Grace Mascolo; 60 years: Sisters of St. Joseph Suzanne Brazauskas, Jeanne Hope, Mary Kelly and Lucy Scata; Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Patrick Marie Doherty; and St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis Marlene Hostetter; 50 years: Daughter of the Holy Spirit Linda Babineau; Sisters of St. Joseph Rosalie Bean and Joan Mooney; Dominican Sister Cornelia Coughlin; Little Sister of the Poor Gabrielle Garrett; and Consecrated Secular of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit Claire Heroux; 25 years: Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary M. The first mission recognition ceremony was held Sept. 8 at St. Francis Hospital to honor the founding volunteers of a five-year-old international medical mission program, during which 18 missions in three countries have been completed. More than 500 volunteers have served, and more than 3,500 patients now have improved surgical, medical and dental health care because of their efforts.
