Understanding Islam: Part One

Finding Friendship: Understanding Islam (part one of two-part series) with Imam Sami A. Aziz will be presented from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford.  Part one will offer an overview of Islam belief, with the goal of cultivating mutual understanding and respect between Muslims and Christians. Participants will learn the five pillars of practice, the six pillars of belief, the sources of Muslim ethics and more. Imam Aziz is the Muslim chaplain at Wesleyan University and an assistant imam at Bloomfield Muslim Community Center. He is founder and president of, a non-profit aimed at uniting hearts through education. Part two will be presented on Oct. 11.
