Blair, under canopy, as he carries a monstrance containing a consecrated host in a Corpus Christi procession from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception to Our Lady of Lourdes Church and on to the Shrine of St. Anne on June 18 in Waterbury.

The processsion followed Mass at the basilica. It ended with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at the shrine, where a reception followed.

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi (Latin for "Body of Christ") is the Roman Rite liturgical celebration of the real presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

A Corpus Christi procession also took place from St. Mary Church to St. Joseph Church in New Haven. St. Mary and St. Joseph will merge on June 29 as part of the pastoral plan for restructuring of parishes in the Archdiocese of Hartford.

Other individual parishes and neighboring parishes held Corpus Christi processions, as well. (Photo by Aaron Joseph)
