ENFIELD – Mary Dorothy McElheron, 90, of Enfield, formerly a longtime resident of Somers, entered into eternal peace on Dec. 4 at St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield.

She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ellen (O’Brien) Emmons of Binghamton, N.Y. She served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

Mrs. McElheron is survived by a son, Father J. Daniel McElheron, administrator of St. Martha’s Church in Enfield; six daughters, Mary Anne Pelrine, Elizabeth Traceski, Rosemary Antunes, Cecilia Mattingly, Teresa Scanlon and Marie Hoelzer; and two brothers, Paul and Frederick Emmons. She also is survived by 32 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James, in 1994; her brothers, Ralph, William, Charles, Franklin and Roger Emmons; and her sisters, Sister Ellen John (Ann) and Laura Emmons.

Father McElheron celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial on Dec. 9 at All Saints Church in Somersville. Committal services with military honors followed at Somers Center Cemetery.
