Patricia Kanute, principal of St. James School in Manchester, and students show off some of the items that were collected during a recent school-wide supply drive for children in Tanzania. Samantha Nadeau, left, and Julianna Mendoza are in front row; Connor Rose, left, and Joshua Duvall are in rear. Bebe Dudley, a retired teacher from Glastonbury who has volunteered for the nonprofit educational program Tanzanian Community Development Alliance in Tanzania, showed videos of a safari and discussed the poor condition of schools in Tanzania. The drive, organized by the school’s third graders, produced hundreds of boxes of crayons, pencils, scissors, markers and pen-pal letters which are to be shipped to Africa in May by the nonprofit Jim Arden Foundation.
