WATERBURY – Holy Cross High School has announced five scholarship winners among its incoming freshman class.

Cristina Mancini, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rocco Mancini of Waterbury, was awarded the Anniversary Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship. She attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Waterbury.

Vernon Hall received the Brothers of the Holy Cross Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship. The son of Vernon Hall and Veronica Rek of Waterbury, he attended West Side Middle School in Waterbury.

The Board of Directors Scholarship, another full-tuition scholarship, went to Kiera O’Donnell. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Peterson of Southbury, she attended Rochambeau Middle School in Southbury.

Taylor Stone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Stone of Torrington, was given the Faculty Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $4,500. She attended Torrington Middle School.

Austin Smith was awarded $4,500 for earning one of the highest scores on the Holy Cross High School Entrance Exam. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Smith of Thomaston, he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Waterbury.

Each year, Holy Cross High School awards scholarships to deserving students of the incoming freshmen class based on high academic achievement, good character, recommendations and personal accomplishments. The scholarships are renewed yearly on the condition that the student maintains at least a 90 average.
