wonka"Willy Wonka," the Hartford Children’s Theatre’s musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir, will open at 7 p.m. Sept. 24.

All performances will be at the Hoffman Auditorium on the campus of St. Joseph College, 1678 Asylum Ave., West Hartford.

Willy Wonka" includes memorable songs from the cult classic 1971 film. including, "Pure Imagination," "I’ve Got a Golden Ticket," "I Want it Now" and "The Candy Man."

The lyrics and music are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. It was adapted for the stage by Tim McDonald and Leslie Bricusse.

Tickets cost $18 for adults. $13 for seniors and students 17 and under; and $10 for current students at Hartford Children’s Theatre.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 24, 10 a.m. Sept. 25, 2 p.m. Sept. 26, 7 p.m. Oct. 1, 10 a.m. Oct. 2 and 2 p.m. Oct. 3.
