Father Joseph Donnelly, pastor of Sacred Heart, said, "This donation is made from a bequest by the late Francis Brewer, a longtime parishioner. Mr. Brewer left a substantial bequest to Sacred Heart Parish ‘to be used for its work with needy families in their outreach programs.’ We are happy to make use of it to help those in need of fuel assistance here in Southbury.

"The Southbury Fuel Bank offers assistance to Southbury residents throughout each year, and it is one of the charities our parish regularly supports every year. During 2013, the Fuel Bank helped approximately 225 households. The Fuel Bank's funding comes entirely from donations."

Sacred Heart Parish is located at 910 Main St. South and can be contacted from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 203-264-5071. For more information, visit Sacred Heart’s website
