ontheweb1Christopher Columbus, holding aloft the cross of evangelization, emerges from the mist during his spring cleaning in the outdoor courtyard of the Knights of Columbus Museum in New Haven recently. Maintenance workers powerwashed the 9-foot-tall bronze statue of "Columbus the Evangelizer" created in 2000 by Stanley Bleifeld, the noted Connecticut sculptor. In his depiciton of the famous explorer, Mr. Bleifeld chose to portray the faith brought by Columbus in bringing the news of salvation to all of mankind. (Photo by Mary Chalupsky)
