FFF-SPG017-BGLASTONBURY – Father Thomas Hickey, parochial vicar at St. Paul Parish elevates the Blessed Sacrament as he prepares to lead a candlelight procession around the church grounds on July 3 as part of the closing of Fortnight for Freedom activities that took place there and at St. Augustine Parish in South Glastonbury.

About 70 people were on hand for a program that ran two and a half hours long and that included music outside by the Christian rock band eXaudio; a welcome by Father Hickey; a talk by Theresa Krankowski, director of the St. Gerard Center in Hartford; a prayer service; recitation of a “patriotic rosary” in which prayer is offered for each of the United States; and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

The two parishes are linked, and activities throughout the two-week, nationwide initiative took place at both. (Photo by Lenora Sumsky)
