NEW Haven – The Patrick Donlin Assembly 2459 of the fourth-degree Knights of Columbus presented a check for $5,000 to Harkness House in New Haven, a division of Columbus House for Homeless Veterans, during a special ceremony on Nov. 2.
The assembly held a golf tournament on Sept. 11 and raised more than $9,000, $5,000 of which was for Harkness House.
The funds will pay for upgrades, flags and the placement of a flag pole that was blessed by Domincan Father Joseph P. Allen, friar (chaplain) of the assembly.
Today, Columbus House manages 10 buildings in New Haven, Middletown and New London to provide shelter and housing to people who are homeless, includes some of the 340 veterans who are homeless in Connecticut on any given day. (Photo by Mary Chalupsky)
