Lou Terzo, an organizer for Brake the Cycle of Poverty, leads other cyclists to the parking lot of St. Vincent DePaul Mission and Shelter in Bristol June 24.
Mr. Terzo, of St. Bridget Parish in Manchester, has been pedaling with the poverty-awareness group since it began rolling in 2003. He said the volunteer cyclists have visited the offices of Senators Chris Dodd and Richard Blumenthal, urging them to fight for economic and social programs that would reduce poverty.
The cyclists also rode to shelters and/or parishes in Litchfield, Cornwall, Manchester, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Bristol, Stratford and Hartford, raising awareness of poverty in the United States. The 12th annual trip ended June 26 at St. Elizabeth House - Mercy Housing and Shelter in Hartford. (Photo by Jack Sheedy)
