HARTFORD – New parish pro-life representatives gather near Archbishop Leonard P. Blair as he blesses candles as part of the annual Respect Life Mass celebrated Oct. 5 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Archbishop Blair also commissioned the new parish pro-life representatives and presented the candles to the pro-life representatives from all parishes.

The Archdiocese of Hartford’s Pro-Life Ministry recognized people for their strong dedication to the sacredness of human life by bestowing the St. Gianna Beretta Molla Pro-Life Award.

Archbishop Blair presented the awards to Father Paul J. Halovatch, priest-chaplain for the Rachel's Vineyard Retreat Ministry for the archdiocese; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Caulfield, pro-life representatives at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Wallingford; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Conran, parish pro-life representatives at the Cathedral of St. Joseph; and Falcons for Life, a group from St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol who participate in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., each year.
