Shawnee Baldwin, coordinator of youth and young adult ministry for the Office of Religious Education and Evangelization, was honored with a regional leadership award Dec. 6 from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry.
The award was presented during the National Catholic Youth Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Ms. Baldwin, who organizes the annual Catholic Youth Spectacular for the young people in the Archdiocese of Hartford, has worked as a Catholic youth leader for 17 years.
She won the award on her first nomination.
“For me to get it first time out, I’m really humbled and honored,” she said.
The Glastonbury resident competed against Catholic youth leaders in Region 1, which covers all of New England.
The NFCYM website says a regional award goes to “a person who has made a significant contribution in youth ministry on a regional level impacting the regional structure of the NFCYM and/or serving as a model of collaboration with her/his neighboring dioceses.”
