Archbishop Leonard P. Blair visits teacher Sheri Jehnings’s first-grade class during a visit to St. Mary School in Simsbury Jan. 23 as part of a celebration of Catholic Schools Month.

Archbishop Blair told the Transcript, “I love being with [the children], and it’s a good education for them too, to actually see a bishop and have a chance to ask questions.”

He said Catholics should be supportive of Catholic schools “by encouraging families to send their children to Catholic schools, but also by contributing to the parish so they can continue to support the school; and by working in the civil sphere with our legislators to try to get some appropriate assistance for Catholic schools.” (Photo by Jack Sheedy)
