Archbishop Leonard P. Blair poses with key figures from the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday at St. Mary Church in New Haven, where the archbishop celebrated Mass before marching in the parade.

Shown in the front row with parade royalty are, from left: Deacon John O’Donovan; Siobhan Dacey, 2015 Honor Attendant; Margaret Heeran, 2015 Parade Queen; Archbishop Blair, Grand Marshal Timothy F. Gallogly; Franciscan Brother of the Eucharist Leo Maneri; and Dominican Father Joseph P. Allen, pastor of St. Mary Parish. Colleen Hines was chair of the parade, the sixth oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the nation.

The first parade was held March 17, 1842, when about 90 members of the Hibernian Provident Society marched through city streets. Now one of New England’s premier Irish events, the parade draws more than 300,000 spectators. (Photo by Mary Chalupsky)
