Archbishop Leonard P. Blair holds an oversize check with Alta Lash, executive director of United Connecticut Action for Neighborhoods (UCAN), on right, during the archbishop’s recent visit to UCAN in New Haven.

The check, from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, symbolized a grant of $40,000. Lynn Campbell, director of the CCHD for the Archdiocese of Hartford, at left, and Barbara Albert, UCAN member, look on.

The annual CCHD collection will be taken Nov. 21-22, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The national collection is the primary source of funding for CCHD, the anti-poverty program of the bishops of the United States.

Organizations receiving funding in the archdiocese include the Naugatuck Valley Project, UCAN, the Publicly-assisted Housing Resident Network, Teach Our Children and United Action Connecticut. (Photo submitted)
