HAMDEN – Ray Andrewsen, the general manager and morning host for WQUN 1220-AM, Quinnipiac University’s commercially licensed community radio station, will serve as master of ceremonies at the 2017 Sacred Heart Academy Auction.

A native of North Haven, Andrewsen is this year’s Hamden Citizen of the Year. He has lived in Hamden for many years.

Andrewsen has been with WQUN and Quinnipiac University for 20 years beginning with Quinnipiac’s ownership of the station. WQUN provided publicity for over 400 community organizations and businesses in 2016. Andrewsen has conducted thousands of interviews with community leaders and of people of interest during his time at the station, and the station has won numerous awards for news coverage and community service.

Andrewsen is an an active panel member of the Hamden Juvenile Review Board, a member of the board of directors of the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and host of its Friday Morning Marketplace program on WQUN, a member of the board of directors of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association and president of the advisory board for the Salvation Army of New Haven. He is a graduate of the FBI New Haven Bureau Citizens Academy program. He is an active member of Spring Glen Church and serves on its Board of Deacons. He has been a longtime member of the board of directors for Christian Community Action, Schooner Inc., Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers and has also served as assistant coach for North Haven American Legion Baseball. He is a past president of the Ridge Hill Elementary School PTA.

Professionally, Andrewsen has also worked in markets as diverse as Washington, Boston, Middletown, and Waterbury as an operations manager, news anchor and talk show host.
