MONROE, N.Y. – Sister Mary Susanne Burke, a member of Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate who served in West Haven for 10 years, died at Marycrest Convent in Monroe, N.Y., on Dec. 7. She was 92.

Sister Mary Susanne ministered in the missionary visitation of families and religious education throughout her religious life. She served from 1970-76 and from 1990-94 at St. Paul Parish in West Haven. She also ministered in Manhattan, Rome, Monroe, Brooklyn and Albany, N.Y.; in North Dakota and in Milwaukee.

She held an associate’s degree in early childhood education from the former South Central (now Gateway) Community College in New Haven and a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies from the College of St. Rose in Albany.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 11 in Immaculate Conception Chapel at Marycrest. Burial followed in Assumption Cemetery at Marycrest.
