BLOOMFIELD – Patricia Marie (Rodgers) Mitchell died after a long illness on Sept. 11 at her home in Bloomfield.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1929, in Boston, the daughter of William H. Rodgers and Cecelia J. Rodgers, and was raised in West Roxbury, Mass. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Lasell College in Newton, Mass.

Mrs. Mitchell raised her six children in Hartford, where she was a member of St. Justin Parish, prior to moving to Bloomfield. She was a communicant at Sacred Heart Parish in Bloomfield and was active in its bereavement ministry. She worked for 38 years as a medical secretary at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford.

She is survived by her children, Father Thomas R. Mitchell, administrator at Sacred Heart Parish in Hartford; William Mitchell of Moodus; Patricia Brown of Colchester; and Mary Millstein, Matthew Mitchell and Michael Mitchell, all of South Windsor. She also is survived by seven grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 15 at St. Justin Church. Burial followed in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Food Bank, 49 Winthrop St., Hartford, CT 06103.
