NEW BRITAIN – Helen T. Smialowski, age 95, a longtime resident of New Britain, died peacefully on Nov. 27, 2010, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.

She was the widow of the late Stanislaw J. Smialowski, who died July 8, 1980, and the mother of Father Raymond Smialowski, Pastor of St. Stanislaus Church in Bristol; Joseph, of Newtown; Maryann, of New Britain; Theresa Grejdus of Billerica, Mass.; and John, of West Haven.

Mrs. Smialowski was born on Aug. 11, 1915, in Holyoke, Mass., a daughter of the late Karol and Eleonora (Kabara) Oraczewski. She was a longtime resident of New Britain. For many years, she conducted her own baking and catering service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Legion of Mary.

She is also survived by two sisters, Genevieve "Gene" Ferris and Theresa Jones, both of New Britain, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 3 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
