TUCSON, Ariz. – Deacon Joseph F. Krikawa, 76, of Tucson, died on Dec. 20 at home.

He was born on June 23, 1934, in New York City, son of the late Joseph and Anne (Clancy) Krikawa. He graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine engineering in 1957. He married his wife, Virginia, the same year. He retired from Unisource in 1996.

He was ordained to the sacred order of deacon on June 30, 1978, by Archbishop John F. Whealon in the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. He relocated to Tucson in 1981 and served as a permanent deacon at St. Odilia Parish in Tucson.

Besides his wife of 53 years, survivors include his daughters, Anne Mazella, Jeanne Knapp, Mary Fontes, Patricia House and Maureen Harris; and sons Edward, John, James and Andrew; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 28 in Tucson. Interment followed at Holy Hope Cemetery there.
