EAST PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Ursuline Sister Mary Josephine Gorman died Jan. 2, 2012, at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 5, 1917, in New York City. She entered the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk on Aug. 15, 1933, and professed her final vows eight years later. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Manhattan College.

Sister Josephine ministered for many years as a teacher, including at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford and Our Lady of Victory in West Haven.

She is survived by two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 6 at the St. Ursula Center Chapel in Blue Point, followed by interment at the cemetery of the Ursuline Sisters in Blue Point.
