NEW BRITAIN – Sister Mary Christine (Ann) Jachowdik, 85, a member of the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, died on Dec. 17, 2013.

A native of Patchogue, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Anton and Blanche Jachowdik. She entered the Daughters of Mary on Aug. 15, 1946.  She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.

Sister Mary Christine taught locally at Sacred Heart School and the former Mary Immaculate Academy, as well as in parish schools in New Jersey and Massachusetts. She was the administrator of the former Rose Hill Day Care and was secretary general for her religious order.

Sister Mary Christine is survived by her sisters, Rose Dioguardo, Frances Risley, Catherine Friedel, Gertrude Jachowdik and Dorothy Godzieba, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers George and Anthony, and sisters Marie Sawicki and Helen Catton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 20 in the motherhouse chapel at Marian Heights. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Daughters of Mary, 314 Osgood Ave., Suite 408, New Britain, CT 06053.
