PUTNAM – Sister Angela Joseph (Maria Lucia) Caldarone, 102, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died on Feb. 20, 2014, in the Holy Spirit Health Care Center, where she had resided since 1996.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1912, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Joseph and Angela (DiCicco) Caldarone. She entered religious life in 1931 and made her religious profession on Aug. 8, 1935, at the motherhouse in St. Brieuc, France. She was then known as Sister Angela Joseph.

For most of her religious life, Sister Angela taught primary grades, including at St. Louis School in New Haven, St. Anne in Hartford, St. Anne in Waterbury, All Hallows in Moosup, St. John in Plainfield and in Leominster and Chicopee, Mass.

She retired to the provincial house in 1991 and moved to the health care center in 1996.

Survivors include a sister, Tessie Masi of Waterbury, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Feb. 24 in the provincial house.
