WATERBURY – Deacon Albert J. deHippolytis, 84, entered eternal life on March 28, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lydia (Torreli) deHippolytis.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1930, in Bronx, N.Y., a son of the late Bartholomew deHippolytis and Susanna (Sabetelli) deHippolytis. He was retired from Acme Steel Rule Die Corp., where he worked as a salesman for many years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was ordained a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Hartford on Sept. 30, 1973. He served as a deacon at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Naugatuck, Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire, Blessed Sacrament in East Hartford, St. Francis in New Haven and SS. Peter and Paul in Waterbury.
He is survived by a sister, Anne Aloia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Rose Delisa, Joseph deHippolytis, Carmella (Millie) Spano and Sylvia Varuolo.
Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Peter A. Rosazza celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial on April 2 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery in Seymour
