WEST HARTFORD – Sister of Mercy Louis Miriam Kocsis died on Sept. 16, 2014.

She was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Torrington, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Pustinger) Kocsis. After high school, she was employed by the Torrington Co. before entering the Sisters of Mercy in 1954. Three years later, after professing her vows, she ministered at Highland Heights in New Haven for 16 years, first as office manager and later as administrator and teaching assistant.

She also ministered in the business department at Mercyknoll and at Lauralton Hall in Milford. She also was a special education teaching assistant for the Milford Board of Education before joining the support staff at St. Mary School in Milford.

Sister Louis was predeceased by seven siblings. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her religious community.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 22 in the chapel at St. Mary Home. She was buried the next day in St. Mary Cemetery.
