MARLBOROUGH – Deacon Peter Joseph Klein, 73, of Marlborough, passed away surrounded by his family on Sept. 17, 2014.
He was born in Middle Village, N.Y., a son of the late Peter J. Klein Sr. and Edith (Jacobi) Klein. He was the owner/operator of PIK Power Corp., a company he started in 1979.
He was a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Hartford for 36 years, serving at St. John Fisher in Marlborough, as well as at St. Paul, St. Augustine and, most recently, St. Dunstan parishes, all in Glastonbury.
Deacon Klein was a member of the Economic Development Commission in Marlborough and the Freedom Boat Club.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene (Eber) Klein; his children Julia Klein-Zawilinski of Enfield, N.H.; Jennifer Ureta of Glastonbury; Judith Kerman of Peoria, Ill.; Janette Dziatko of Marlborough; and Robert P. Klein of Colchester. He also is survived by a brother, Donald Klein of Danielson; sisters Betty Kerns of Moosup and Barbara Wallen of Putnam, and 14 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Hopkins, in May.
Auxiliary Bishop Christie A. Macaluso celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial on Sept. 22 at St. Dunstan Church.
