NEW BRITAIN – Mother Mary Mark (Doria) Pizzotti, former superior general of the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, died Dec. 24, surrounded by her family.

A native of Somerville, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Abdon and Adelcisa Pizzotti.

She entered the Daughters of Mary on Feb. 2, 1954. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Louis University and a Master of Science in Administration degree from Notre Dame University.

At the time of her death, Mother Mary Mark was the administrator of Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge, Mass., and the vicar general and treasurer of her religious community.

She previously had been head of the X-ray department and administrator of Sancta Maria Hospital in Cambridge.

She also was a councilor for her religious community and served on several community boards locally and in Massachusetts.

She is survived by the sisters in her religious community, her sister Lola and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers Elmiro, Richard and Abdon and her sisters Nemi and Diana.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Jan. 3 in the chapel of the motherhouse, Marian Heights.
Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Donations in Mother Mary Mark’s memory may be made to the Daughters of Mary, 314 Osgood Ave., Suite 408, New Britain, CT 06053.
