SOUTHINGTON - Deacon James P. Quinn of Southington died on May 15, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 9, 1934 in Waterbury, a son of the late Henry B. and Minnie (Christopher) Quinn. He attended Waterbury parochial schools and was a longtime member of St.Thomas Parish in Southington, where he was a catechist. lector and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was ordained as a deacon almost 35 years ago.

Deacon Quinn enjoyed a more than 30-year career as the foreman of the composing room at the Middletown Press. He then served as a paraprofessional in the Meriden school system.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ann (Urillo); his parents; and a brother, Hank Quinn. He is survived by his five children Louise Moss of Meriden; James Jr., of Clinton; Margaret Quinn of Atlanta, Ga.; Mark Quinn of Mooresville, Ind.; and Matthew Quinn of New Orleans, La. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Bochicchio and Alice Telesca; as and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 18 at St. Thomas Church. Burial followed in St. Thomas Cemetery. Donation in his name may be sent to Southington Catholic School, 133 Bristol St. Southington, CT 06489.
