ENFIELD – Felician Sister Mary Leontine Burza, 84, died on March 29 at Holy Family Infirmary in Enfield.

She was born in Wilbraham, Mass., a daughter of the late Francis and Sophia (Orszulak) Burza, and was named Genevieve. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree at Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.

She entered the Felician Sisters in 1954 in Enfield and professed her perpetual vows in 1962.

Sister Leontine ministered for 30 years as an elementary school teacher in Hartford; Webster, Mass.; Manchester, N.H.; Coventry, R.I.; and Amsterdam, the Bronx, Florida, Hempstead, Kingston and Staten Island, N.Y.

After retiring from teaching in 1991, she worked in the congregation’s provincial house in Enfield. She entered Holy Family Infirmary in Enfield in 2005.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, John. She is survived by her sister, Emily Pagos of Indian Orchard, Mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 2 in the convent chapel.Interment followed in the Felician Sisters’ plot in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Enfield.
