WEST HARTFORD – Sister Mary Presentation Hoye (Kathryn Mary Hoye), of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery, West Hartford, died on June 8 at the community’s provincial house in West Hartford. She was 82 years old and had been in religious life for 59 years.

She was born on May 17, 1927, the daughter of the late William J. Hoye Sr. and Kathryn (Lane) Hoye. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on Sept. 8, 1950, and professed her perpetual vows on Aug. 23, 1956.

Sister Mary Presentation held degrees in education and music and taught for many years in the Archdiocese of Hartford and Diocese of Bridgeport. She was the principal at St. Mary School in New Hartford and for almost 20 years taught at St. Lawrence School in West Haven. She was included twice in Who’s Who among America’s Teachers.

After her years in education, she moved to the provincial house, where she was the provincial secretary for 10 years. In 2005, she became the house’s librarian.

In addition to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sister Presentation is survived by her two brothers, John, of East Lyme, and Raymond, of Shelton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William J. Hoye Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 11 at St. Joseph Chapel in the provincial house. Interment was in the Sisters of St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 27 Park Road West Hartford, CT 06119.
