CONVENT STATION, N.J. – Sister Marguerite Mac Lelland, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died on July 3 at St. Anne Villa in Convent Station at the age of 93.

She was born in Waterbury, a daughter of Orson and Mary (Shea) Mac Lelland. She entered the Sisters of Charity on Sept. 8, 1934.

Sister Marguerite received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from the College of St. Elizabeth and her Master of Arts degree in special education from Seton Hall University. Sister Marguerite was an educator in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey, including at St. Mary School in Waterbury from 1955-59 and 1972-90 and St. Thomas in Waterbury from 1965-72.

Sister Marguerite then volunteered in the Pastoral Care Department at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven from 1990-97 and at St. Regis Health Center in New Haven from 1997-2000. She retired to the Hospital of St. Raphael Convent in 2000 and moved to St. Anne Villa in 2006.

Sister Marguerite is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John and her sisters Mary Gregory, Harriet Mitchell and Ellen Donavan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 6. Burial followed in Holy Family Cemetery in Convent Station.
