WATERBURY – Sacred Heart High School Student Council members, from left, Caitlin Mulhall, John Murphy, Ireland Gilmore, Katherine Gomes, Brandon Arnold and Julie Frenis hold nonperishable food items that the Student Council collected through a Thanksgiving Food Drive at the school.
It was organized by teacher-moderator Molly Blake,’97.
In addition to the food items, the school had a casual day to raise additional funds for Thanksgiving items.
The food and $850 were donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
The Student Council plans for the remainder of the school year include various community service outreach projects including a Towel Drive and Spirit Week activities in March, as well participation in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in June.
The Student Council also assists the Admission Office with the Freshmen Welcome Picnic held in August and the Freshmen Orientation Day. The goal of Student Council is to create a community for students within the walls of Sacred Heart, to develop leadership and to organize community outreach.
