SGS ProjectO webSeventh graders at St. Gabriel School in Windsor get up close and personal with a marine organism on May 29 aboard Project Oceanology’s boat Enviro-Lab during the grade’s annual science/history field trip to southeastern Connecticut.

The first stop was at Fort Griswold in Groton, where the students learned about the fort’s history and visited the museum.

The Project Oceanology trip allowed the students to study many of the living things that they learned about during the year.

They examined spider crabs, little skates, winter and summer flounder, squid, hermit crabs, large whelk and sea robins. They also tested for abiotic conditions, including salinity, density, pH, depth, temperature and water color. (Photo submitted)
