MIDDLETOWN – Four Xavier Advanced Placement biology students have been accepted to the University of Connecticut Health Center’s 2016 Mini Medical/Dental School Program.

They are, from left, seniors Abhishek Gupta of Rocky Hill, Evan Swanson of Killingworth, Connor Frauendorf of Portland and Jameson Kief of Southington.

Students are accepted into the selective program based upon their grade point averages and their interest in medicine, dentistry or the biomedical sciences.

The lecture series includes presentations by the faculty and deans of the School of Medicine. This year’s lectures, which began in February and continue to April, feature lectures on dermatology, the immune system, neurology, cardiology, hepatitis and regenerative medicine.

Attendees also hear a presentation by Richard Zeff, Ph.D., assistant dean of admissions for the UConn School of Medicine, about the university’s graduate and doctoral programs.
