WLHS Life Skill Cookies group web

Students in the life skill program at Windsor Locks High School pose for a photo on March 21 with Father Robert A. O'Grady, pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Mary parishes in Windsor Locks, while baking 33 dozen cookies to be donated to ImmaCare Inc. in Hartford.

The 15 students volunteered to help the social justice committee of the Catholic Community of Windsor Locks to prepare dessert for the shelter. Each month, the committee's volunteers prepare a meal for more than 75 homeless men at the former Immaculate Conception Shelter.

“Not only are these students helping feed homeless men, but they are learning to use their skills of following written instructions, measuring, cooking and cleaning for their future” according to instructor Kathy Bloom.

To thank the students, Father O’Grady provided pizza and juice.
