The event annually recognizes extraordinary volunteers who support the students, teachers and faculty in making Catholic schools exceptional institutions for learning academics and the Gospel.

St. Gabriel School honored volunteers Brandon and Lori Calavan and Dan Caruso. Lori Calavan has committed her time and talents to the school board and has assisted the Home and School Association with many school events. Brandon Calavan has taken charge of many maintenance projects around the school, including repairing classroom cubbies and fixing a portion of ceiling in the basement. Mr. Caruso was honored for his hard work and dedication coaching the St. Gabriel School Varsity Boys Basketball team over the past two years, as well as for serving as a member of the school board.

Now in its 40th year, the dinner drew pastors, school personnel and volunteers from 38 parishes in the arrchdiocese.

Honorees from each school received the 2017 St. John Newman Award.
