This Saturday (5/3), Brian A. Nichols used social media to endorse Brazil from US diplomacy. As US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, he is responsible for diplomatic relations between the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Every vote in the UN Human Rights Council is important for the Kremlin to take responsibility for Russia’s atrocities in Ukraine. The United States is proud to stand by Brazil’s defense of the human rights of all in Ukraine,” Nichols wrote.

The Secretary-General referred directly to the referendum at the United Nations College. At the time, Brazil sided with the United States in condemning Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

It may be recalled that Nichols’ post was shared by Douglas Gonef, who was in charge of American business in Brazil.
