Beth Ann Surapine, director of music at St. Bernard Church in Enfield, choir director for adults and children, music teacher at St. Bernard School and piano accompanist, will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra in Milford, Mass., on Saturday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. The performance, called "Russian Romance," will take place in Milford Town Hall at 52 Main St.
Surapine has played the piano since she was 5 years old. She is described by those at St. Bernard School as extremely passionate about her work and the growth of each of her students there. Besides being the director of music and a teacher at the school, she gives weekly private piano lessons to 45 students ranging in age from 5 to 86.
Ms. Surapine said that while performing Rachmaninoff will bring her great joy, personal growth and a sense of accomplishment, she is also performing as a tribute to her parents, Carol and the late Ray Carol Surapine, who spent thousands of dollars supporting her dream of becoming a pianist, and she is thankful for their many sacrifices.
