Grêmio and midfielder Maicon terminated the contract by mutual agreement at noon on Monday. The player is leaving the club after more than six years, focusing on the 2016 and 2017 Copa del Rey titles and the 2017 Libertadores.
The player had a contract with the club only until December of this year, when the season ends. He himself has already announced on his social networks that he will not follow Tricolor.
Maicon’s last game for Grêmio took place last Saturday, in a 1-0 loss to Corinthians. After Joe’s goal, the defensive midfielder complained strongly to the referee, He received two yellow cards and was ejected.

The 35-year-old will no longer appear at CT Luiz Carvalho on Wednesday, when the team returns from the three-day break that gave him direction. He is in Rio de Janeiro with his family and is scheduled to return to Porto Alegre early next week for a farewell press conference.
Maicon renewed with Grêmio in the first half of 2018. The defensive midfielder arrived at Porto Alegre in March 2015 and quickly became a captain.
Since then, he has led the team to the Copa de Brazil titles, in 2016, the Libertadores, in 2017, and Recopa and Gauchou, in 2018.
The midfielder is leaving Rio Grande do Sul after 247 matches and has scored 15 goals. In 2021, due to frequent injury problems, he acted only 15 times.
