Marquinhos disappears in Corinthians after decisive handball and goes seven games without representation

Striker Marquinhos has good chances of ending his spell at Corinthians with a touch of hand in defence, the most memorable moment – for worse – of his time in the professional. Since making a foul on Atlético-GO away from home, Sylvinho has never remembered the player.

The bid in question was already in the add-ons to the 1-1 draw with Goias. Timão was winning 1-0, and when he received a ball in the defensive midfield, Marquinhos controlled it with his arm and gave the home team a chance to play the ball into the area. The opponent ended up scoring – in an offside that the referee ignored even with the VAR review.

Since then, also in conjunction with Willian’s creation in the team, Marquinhos has been included in only two of the seven duels held by Corinthians, without entering into any of them.

Even with the No. 10 jersey, which has suffered a left thigh injury and will be out for up to five weeks, the player was not mentioned as an option for the match against Sao Paulo, on Monday, at the Morumbi Stadium.

It is worth noting that he has been on loan to Sport since last year, but he was asked to return by Sylvinho due to the lack of offensive options for the coach before signings in the middle of the year.

The São Paulo Junior Football Cup champion in 2017, Marquinhos renewed his contract with the club the following year. At 24, he has a valid relationship with Timão until the end of next year.
