A family woke up hearing the noise on the porch. Arriving at the spot, they saw a crocodile swimming in the pool of the house. The trial is set to begin on Tuesday morning (5/17) in Deep Creek, Florida, USA.

According to a Charlotte County Police Department report, the crocodile weighed 250kg and was 3.3m long. Sergeant Broad Stender told CNN American the animal was captured and safely transferred to the city of Muse, which is “perfect” for crocodiles.
In the spring and summer, crocodiles often go out in search of mating, which brings them closer to the habitat. These reptiles are endemic to the southern United States, where the state of Florida is located.

It is common for people to come in contact with crocodiles in the area and although most of the time the animals run away, the crocodile attack is dangerous. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, between 1948 and 2016, 23 people were killed by crocodiles in accidental attacks in Florida.

In the original lawsuit, Charlotte urged police to “always check your pool before diving.”
