Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital introduces 12 new beds for its Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital introduces 12 new beds for its Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

With the aim of offering increasingly humane treatment, Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital has made available 12 new rooms in the UTCA (Advance Cardiac Unit) – all individual. The activation of the new beds is part of the hospital expansion, located on the second floor of Tower 2 of its new structure.

Recently, 10 new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit beds opened, and they are already in operation – all with single beds and a structure that parents can stay in. As a result, the hospital is the only one in the city that offers intensive care beds – for adults and children – individually and with the participation of their families during treatment.

The expansion of the service is part of the private health network project, designed since 2012. In total, the new intensive care unit will, by the end of November 2021, have 31 new beds: 21 adults and 10 baby beds, fully equipped with the latest technology as well as a skilled staff . Investments amount to about R$10 million, with 50% of the amount allocated to the physical structure and the other 50% to equipment. In total, by the end of the year, the hospital will have 51 intensive care unit beds,” says the supervisor of Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital, Elpidio José Mieldazis.

Julio Cesar Paim, CEO and General Manager of Unimed Ribeirão Preto, highlights “Thanks to this new structure, we have been able to increase the surgical capacity of the hospital, including complex surgeries for pediatric patients.” With that, according to him, there will be an increase in complex surgical care, including as a backup service for pediatric care provided at the São Paulo Hospital – a medical center run by Unimed Ribeirão Preto. “This number of intensive care beds makes Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital the largest medical center in the city in terms of the number of private beds in a single hospital,” Baim adds.

The CEO also emphasizes that the concern of the hospital management body has always been to offer a new and modern structure, with high quality human resources and, above all, humane care for patients. Hence the importance of providing an individual intensive care unit. “In such a short time of operation, the intensive care unit has already established itself as one of the best in the country, with quality indicators compatible with hospitals in large centers in the world,” he compares.

All intensive care beds – for adults and children – are individual, with the permission of family members accompanying patients. For this purpose, a highly trained team has been formed and a new physical structure has been designed that allows natural lighting and provides the patient with a correct perception of day and night.

Dental care in the intensive care unit

Another novelty in hospital care is the daily presence of a dental specialist in the intensive care unit, who is responsible for the control of dental infections and for the preventive work of patients in the advanced cardiac care unit, even with small interventions, if necessary. Having a dentist on the multidisciplinary team is due to some of the oral problems it can cause, including heart problems. Other care for patients of Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital.

investment

Supervisor Elpidio José Mieldazis highlights that by 2023, there will also be an increase in the maternity hospital with revitalization of the maternity center, neonatal intensive care unit, nursery and bedroom. The entire project represents over R$100 million over five years, in physical structure, equipment and personnel. So this year we have reached nearly 30% of that amount,” he says.
