It was first reported in Cuba, Symptoms of Havana syndrome include:
- Cognitive difficulties
- ringing in the ear
- Difficulties with vision, hearing, or balance

The BBC, citing the American Academy of Sciences, says the most plausible explanation for this syndrome is that patients develop symptoms after receiving “direct pulsed radiofrequency energy”. This means that people directly received a type of radiation that includes microwaves.
However, it remains unknown who is behind this radiation – which can be deliberately emitted. However, the study by the US government indicates that it is already known that the Soviet Union was researching the effects of exposure to the phenomenon.
