Moroney_7195Msgr. James P. Moroney, left, chats with Hartford Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Peter A. Rosazza moments before speaking to about 90 priests on June 3 at the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. A faculty member of St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Mass., Msgr. Moroney spoke about the new translation of the Roman Missal. He also addressed more than 100 deacons and laypeople at the same site June 4. Msgr. Moroney is executive secretary of Vox Clara, an advisory committee to the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, which reviews and approves liturgical texts. He told the Transcript that the new texts "will, I believe, in my lifetime have the greatest impact on catechesis, on pastoral practice, on ecclesiology, on the whole horizon of the Church’s life, on anything that’s happened since the Second Vatican Council." The new English translation will be available on Oct. 1 and will go into effect on Nov. 27.  (Photo by Jack Sheedy)
